According to the FBI NICS Office, April saw the most background checks so far this year and was the fourth busiest in its history. Almost 3 million background checks were performed in April 2020. Per the FBI, 984,872 checks were related to the transfer of a handgun, 508,122 checks related to the transfer of a long gun, 68,746 checks related to “other” transfers; and, 34,779 checks related to multiple transfers in one transaction. There were also 311,568 permit checks and an additional 888,385 permit rechecks. And if you didn't know, March 2020 set the all-time record with 3.7 million checks. Can you say, "Thank you COVID-19"?
As stated by the NRA-ILA, "Americans set another record for background checks last month because we are a nation of law-abiding gun owners intent on keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe." Do you think Michael Bloomberg, who spent over $1 billion dollars trying to become the Democratic nominee, is having a bit of heartburn from all the gun sales this year alone? While some see COVID-19 as a bad thing, I can tell you that I have handled more transfers and have had more sales this year alone than all my other years added together. I'm not complaining.
So, if you are looking for something, let me know. Although demand is high and supplies are low, I do work with 10 different distributors and have been fortunate to turn no one away.
